All of Welch's Transport's haulage depots are British Assessment Bureau quality-assured to ISO 14001, supported by quarterly quality meetings to drive continuous improvement. The engine of our quality drive is the customer; all customer comments are recorded on a daily basis by all staff and reviewed at the end of the month. This allows any required corrective action to be put in place effectively.
With the arrival of our first 19t fully BEV rigid imminent and our new rapid-charger installed at Welch’s HQ, we’re making solid movements towards a more sustainable future – and setting new industry standards as we go!
Net Zero Microsite
Our carbon-tyre print is kept as small as possible by ISO 14001 incorporated alongside a modern, fuel-efficient fleet with up-to-the-minute telemetrics and routing software and ongoing training for all of our drivers.
Part of Welch’s Transport’s driver trainer role is monitoring and mentoring safe, efficient driving. Drivers have a significant impact on fuel consumption and alert, positive and professional drivers can reduce fuel use. This ensures vehicle emissions and operating costs are kept to a minimum whilst contributing to greater road safety and a cleaner business.
ISO 14001 has also helped shape the growth and development of Welch’s Transport: One of its initiatives, the Duxford depot truck wash, integrates an underground rain water reservoir and recycling system, reusing 85% of its water from each wash. With solar panels also covering all warehouse roof space, on a sunny day the Duxford depot will actually put energy back into the grid.
